Women's Development Family Welfare Education and Motivation for Family planning Services
        through Rural Co-operatives. 
        The project is being implemented in 150 thanas of 45 districts of the country. The
        objectives of the project are:  
        i) To create awareness about the population problem among the co-operative
        leaders/members.  
        ii) To motivate co-operators to accept and adopt family planning services/ methods.  
        iii) To strengthen the organisation and management of the co-operatives for rendering
        family planning services.  
        iv) To introduce training courses on population and family planning the curriculum of
        the training centers like BARD, RDA, TTU etc.  
        The total cost of the project is Taka 31 million as grant from UNFPA for arrangement of
        training for the volunteers on health and family planning. These volunteers, in turn,
        motivate the members in the weekly meeting of the primary societies. Besides, the
        volunteers procure family planning materials from the Thana Family Planning Offices or
        from field workers and distribute the same to the members. Out of 1,24,889 eligible
        couples in the project area 78,227 i.e. 62% of them accepted birth control methods up to
        June 1998.
