Under this component the board has so far organized 63 thousand Farmers Co-operative Societies and 449 Thana Central Co-operative Associations with 2.3 million farm families as members. They have accumulated a capital amounting to Taka 850 million as share and savings. These co-operatives are also operating 21466 Deep tube-wells, 48415 Shallow tube-wells, 20000 Low lift pumps and 273000 Hand tube-wells for irrigation throughout the country.

This has created an employment opportunity for 115 million Man-days a season . Again they have brought 2.2 million acres of land under irrigation during the dry season thereby producing an additional amount of foodgrains to the extent of 4.8 million tons during a year.
